The varieties of Turf Type Tall Fescue in our blend have been carefully selected to endure heavy wear and play areas such as playgrounds, parks, athletic fields and home lawns in a wide range of light conditions: from sun to shade. Tall fescue has excellent drought and heat tolerance and is an excellent option for sites that have little to no irrigation. Root depths have been known to grow 3 to 6 feet in depth (depending upon soil types and watering habits)! The cultivars selected for our blend are highly resistant to common disease and insect problems. In fact, the endophytes in the crown of the tall fescue plant produce toxins that kill or repel insects that feed on turf.

Sheep Fescue (a.k.a. "No Mow")

Sheep fescue is a stiff leaved, non-creeping bunch type grass that is well suited for low maintenance situations in which little to no mowing is desired. In fact, the more maintenance you perform on a sheep fescue turf stand, the less it thrives. Because of its non-aggressive nature, sheep fescue is quite frequently used in wildflower mixtures as a soil stabilizer and to complement the wildflowers to create a meadow-like setting.
